I can’t stop drawing Benedict Cumberbatch. Help. I can pretend it’s good practice for drawing male anatomy but who am I kidding, the only male I’m drawing is him…

This is supposed to be Sherlock as a young man, in his late teens or early twenties, and then on the right as we see him in the show.
I’ve always been fascinated with what Sherlock Holmes would have been like as a child, or growing up. We all know he’s a calculating and logic-driven man now, who has completely accepted who and what he is and has found his little niche in the world to suit his personality. But what about before? He must have struggled like any other child who recognizes that they’re different. He can’t have always been so cool and calm, that comes from recognizing that you’re different from others and accepting it.
This exchange of lines between Mycroft and Sherlock in A Scandal in Belgravia shows you that doubt, however small, that Sherlock must sometimes get now and again. Is it really better to leave emotion and caring out of the picture and let your brain lead the way, or is it that sometimes letting emotions rule over logic, however more flawed that may be, is somehow more human?

I’m having a bit of an art-block and would LOVE some Sherlock doodle ideas. Anyone?
I won’t necessarily post them though, it’s just that outside ideas can be a fun challenge to get me started again. :)
